As many historians know now, and the people knew back then, Ernie Pyle was America's favorite War Correspondent, Newspaper Man, and everybody's friend.
Ernie brought the War home to many people regularly who anxiously awaited his stories, so that they could follow
their son's as they fought their way through WWII.
Ernie walked with, slept with, ate with the average Joe's on a regular basis and earned the respect of not only the troops over seas, but the US Military Brass as well.
